The upcoming winter school holidays offer the perfect chance for little ones to indulge in crafty activities that keep them entertained while staying toasty warm.

Want to create a world of enchantment these winter holidays but don’t know how?

Don’t worry we’ve got you covered! We adore the inspiration we get from our delightful friends @pepperberrykisses who use our all-natural products in the most creative and fun ways, and we’re really excited to share them with our wonderful customers.

So, let's dive into the cutest and most fun winter holiday activities that will have your kiddos grinning from ear to ear!

#1 Homemade chalk

Who said our make-up powders were only for little faces? Melanie from @pepperberrykisses absolutely nails the creativity here, as she makes natural chalk using our vibrant colours and simple ingredients out the pantry.

Want to let your little artists' imaginations run wild with this delightful activity? Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Oh Flossy eyeshadows and face paint powders in your colours of choice
  • Cornflour
  • Bicarbonate soda
  • Water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Moulds or empty toilet paper rolls (cut in half lengthwise)

Mixing Up the Magic:

In a mixing bowl, combine equal parts cornflour and bicarbonate soda. Mix well to ensure they are thoroughly combined.

Adding Colourful Charm:

Add a small amount of Oh Flossy makeup powder to the dry mixture. Choose your fave colours and experiment with different combinations to create a variety of vibrant shades. Stir until the colours are evenly distributed. For a wintery feel go with our teal, blue and white shades.

The Perfect Consistency:

Slowly add water to the mixture while stirring continuously. Aim for a mouldable, gooey texture. Adjust the consistency by adding more water if it's too dry or more cornflour/bicarbonate soda if it's too watery.

Mould and Dry:

Pour or spoon the mixture into moulds or half-cut toilet paper rolls. Smooth the surface with a spatula or the back of a spoon. Allow the chalk to dry thoroughly for a few days in a sunny spot or using a fan to speed up the process.

Time to Create:

Once the chalk has dried completely, it's time for colourful adventures to begin.

With Oh Flossy makeup, creating your own natural chalk that will ignite your child's creativity and add some colour to a dreary winter day. It’s also a great sensory activity - From mixing up the ingredients to moulding and drawing with the vibrant chalk!

#2 Marbled Magic with Oh Flossy Nail Polishes!

Out of all of @pepperberrykisses amazing creations, this has to be one of our all-time favourites! Prepare to be amazed as we dive into the world of marbled patterns using Oh Flossy nail polishes!

Unleash your creativity with your little ones and transform everyday objects into mesmerizing works of art just like Melanie has, here:

The Marbling Process:

  1. Gather your materials: Choose the items you want to marble, such as mugs, hair clips (check out Kmart for some affordable options). Make sure they are clean and dry before starting.
  2. Pour water into a container: Fill a shallow container with room-temperature water. Ensure the water level is sufficient to fully submerge the item you're marbling.
  3. Prepare your polishes: Select the Oh Flossy nail polish colours you wish to use. Open each bottle and have them ready to pour.
  4. Create the marbled effect: Working quickly, pour a few drops of different coloured polishes onto the surface of the water. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the colours together, creating unique patterns and designs.
  5. Dip and transfer: Carefully submerge your chosen item into the water, allowing the marbled pattern to adhere. Once fully coated, slowly lift the item out of the water, letting any excess water drip off.
  6. Let it dry: Place your marbled item on a flat surface and allow it to dry completely. The drying time may vary depending on the item and environmental conditions.

Tips for marbling success:

  • Keep the polishes low and close to the water when pouring to create more defined patterns.
  • Work quickly to prevent the polishes from drying too quickly, ensuring they spread and blend effectively.
  • Experiment with different colour combinations and techniques to discover your little one’s favourite marbled effects.

#3 The Fabulous Homemade Fizz: Sparkling Fun with Oh Flossy Magic

Turn your winter holidays into a whimsical adventure as we dive into the world of homemade fizz! With a sprinkle of Oh Flossy glitter, face paint, and eyeshadow powder combined with a dash of baking soda and a few drops of vinegar, check out the magical fizzy potion powder @pepperberrykisses created.

The Recipe for Fizzy Magic:

Gather the following ingredients to create your homemade fizzy potion powder:

Mixing Up the Magic:

In a mixing bowl, combine a sprinkle of Oh Flossy glitter, face paint, and eyeshadow powder with a dash of baking soda. Stir the mixture well, ensuring all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Sparkling Transformations:

Now, it's time for the magic to happen! Gather some everyday objects like small containers, bowls, or even toy figurines. Sprinkle a small amount of your fizzy potion powder onto these objects and prepare for the excitement.

Shiny, Sparkling, and Metallic Fun:

With a couple of drops of vinegar, watch your little ones’ jaws drop in amazement as the fizzy potion powder comes to life! Witness the shiny, sparkling, and even metallic transformations unfold before their eyes. The interaction between the vinegar and baking soda creates a fizzing reaction that adds a touch of enchantment to your creations.

Capturing Little Imaginations:

One of the most beautiful aspects of this activity is seeing the kids tap into their imagination. Encourage them to explore different scenarios and characters. They can become a villain, creating volcanic eruptions, or a sweet fairy in an enchanted forest. Let their creativity soar as they immerse themselves in this whimsical world.
